(Athletic) Year-in-Review
Started off 2010 by getting a memership at the local Y and following the Crossfit Football strength training, plus I finally started to run in my vibrams. (I had only been walking in them previously.) Was still fairly consistently low-carb, diet-wise. Somewhere mid-January I set myself a goal of competing the CrossFit Games Sectional. I’m not sure what happened, I was expecting to get 5 or so on the last set. I guess I just came completely off the rails. Ah well, I got some really good mobility work in during the warmup, and I did a bunch of negative dips on the rings afterwards. Gym 12/13/10 plus goals for the next month or so
Deadlift: 5 x 133 lbs 3 x 153 lbs 8 x 173 lbs I triple-checked the weights this time to make sure there were no screw-ups. Oh, and I ended with some band-assisted chins and slow negatives. I just have my last day of benching and then I’m done with my first round of Wendler 5-3-1. Unfortunately it’s awkward timing because I’ll probably have limited gym access between xmas...

Lamb stew prep. Shoulder Press: 5 x 47 lbs 3 x 52 lbs 8 x 57 lbs I’m pretty happy with how my shoulder strength has been progressing. I ended with some assisted handstand pushups… 3 sets of 3, with the small band on my shoulders and the medium band suspended from the lowest pullup bar.

No obedience class for the puppy this week, so I went to the gym to lift and heckle the people doing the posted workout. :) Bench Press: 3 x 73 lbs 3 x 83 lbs 10 x 93 lbs This week started out pretty badly, sleep-wise and training-wise. But I was feeling great yesterday and am pretty chipper so far today, so I hope I’ve recovered.
