Update for the past week
Workouts have still been a bit sparse. I went to the park last weekend and did a light sprinting workout, mostly focusing on form. That felt really good. Then on Monday I made it into the gym and tested my max box jump- I made it to 33” and ran out of time. I think I was pretty close to my limit though, on the last jump my feet went wide of their own accord because my thighs were right up...

Hiatus...
It bothers me some that whenever other things in lifeget distracting or stressful, I pretty much stop being active. I haven’t really exerted myself for a little over a week. On the plus side, I’ve still been taking long walks nearly every day. (A previously unrealized plus of having a dog: you can’t just stop walking him even if you don’t feel like being active!) Gym 1/7/11
Didn’t make it to the gym today. Here’s yesterday… Deadlift: 5 x 130 lbs 5 x 150 lbs 10 x 170 lbs Same old, same old. Actually, I felt pretty darn good. Sadly I was feeling pretty crappy this morning and opted for more sleep. I got some feiyue shoes so that someday I can be a Kung Fu master! Actually because they’re cheap and comfy. I really like them so far…

Gym 1/4/11
Shoulder Press: 5 x 45 lbs 5 x 50 lbs 9 x 55 lbs Followed up with sets of ring dip negatives, chin-up negatives, and assisted handstand pushups. I’m still really really sore from the past 2 days though.

My first 6:30am workout of 2011 was pretty much as mediocre as you can get… Back Squat: 3 x 2 x 155 lbs The posted workout was max reps of bodyweight back squats, followed by 15 ring dips, 10 toes-to-bar, 5 handstand pushups, untimed, for 4 rounds. Iiiinnnnteresting. One workout per week starting early March, for it looks like maybe 6 total weeks/workouts. They can be “validated” either by sending in a video or by doing it at a crossfit affiliate, where presumably a trainer counts your reps or whatever. I wonder if affiliates plan to have one “qualifier day” per week that you can come in? I wonder if your first...

New Year kick-off workout
It was really great to do a competitive conditioning workout. There were prizes, but I would have pushed just as hard regardless… I like trying to win. :) I came in second out of 3 chicks. Anyway, my main take-aways are that I’m not too horribly out of shape even though I’ve been pretty much abstaining from any heavy conditioning for the past month… and I need to work on...
